Telling Yourself the Truth

What does it really mean to tell the truth? This message takes us deeper than simple honesty and into the very foundation of how we understand reality itself. We explore two competing views of truth that shape our world: one where truth is determined by whoever can gather the most agreement, and one where truth corresponds to reality as God actually created and defined it. From the story of the twelve spies in the wilderness to the temptation in the Garden of Eden, we see that the battle over truth is ancient, and it strikes at the core of our relationship with God. When we lie, we are not merely stating something incorrect. We are asserting the right to define reality on our own terms, which is precisely what went wrong at the very beginning of human history. Ephesians 4:25 calls us to put away falsehood and speak truth with one another, not simply as a moral improvement project, but because we are members of one another. We are being built into something together, a people whose trust in God's definition of reality makes us trustworthy to each other and distinct from a world drowning in deception.
