The Corrupts Christ's Church

What if the words we speak every day are doing far more damage than we realize? This message takes us deep into Ephesians 4:29-30, where Paul draws a sharp and challenging line between speech that builds up and speech that corrupts and decays. Like a rotten apple placed among good ones, corrupting talk spreads harm in ways we often fail to notice. But the message does not stop at simple warnings. It pushes us to think carefully about what corrupting speech actually is, because the answer is more nuanced than we might expect. Anger alone does not make speech corrupt. Negativity alone does not make speech corrupt. Even sharp rebukes, when aimed at restoration and truth, are not corrupting. What matters is the purpose and the occasion. Are our words meeting real needs? Are they building people up? Are they giving grace to those who hear them? This is the standard Paul sets before us, and it is a high one that calls us to examine not just what we say, but why we say it and how it lands in the hearts of those around us.
