What does it truly mean to have a missions mindset? This message takes us deep into Philippians 2:5-8, where Paul holds up the mind of Christ as the ultimate model for how we are to think, serve, and relate to others. At the heart of the passage is a stunning truth: Christ, who existed eternally in the very nature of God and held every right and privilege that deity entails, did not cling to those privileges. He willingly set them aside, took on the nature of a servant, and entered a world that was hostile to him. He did not come to those who deserved him. He came to his enemies. That is the standard Paul sets before us, and it is breathtaking in its scope. As we sit with these verses, we are invited to ask ourselves a hard question: do we share that mindset? Are we willing to cross the lines we have drawn, to move toward people we find difficult or even objectionable, to love them and serve them the way Christ loved and served us? The message does not let us off easily, and that is exactly what makes it so valuable for our faith journey.
